JIS Naming Convention
JIS standards are identified by a specific naming format:
Format: JIS [Division Letter] [Standard Number]:[Revision Year]
- Division Letter: A single letter (A-Z) indicating the technical field, as outlined in the divisions above.
- Standard Number: Typically four digits, though some corresponding to ISO standards may use five digits.
- Revision Year: The four-digit year of the most recent revision.
Example: JIS B 2001:1987 refers to the standard "Nominal size and bore of valves" under Mechanical Engineering (B), standard number 2001, last revised in 1987.
